PUBLIC NOTICE
MUNICIPAL ELECTION
Offices, Incumbents, And Nomination Papers
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Consolidated General Municipal Election will be held in the City of Newman under the provisions of laws relating to general law cities in the State of California on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The purpose of the election is to consider the following offices:
For one (1) Mayor (Full term of two years)
Current Incumbent Casey Graham has been furnished nomination papers, and said nomination papers have been returned and verified by the Elections Division of Stanislaus County Registrar of Voters.
Matthew Harden has also been furnished nomination papers, and said nomination papers have been returned and verified by the Elections Division of Stanislaus County Registrar of Voters.
For two (2) Members of the City Council (Full terms of four years)
Current Incumbents Scott Ball and Shane Tomlinson have been furnished nomination papers and said nomination papers have been returned and verified by the Elections Division of Stanislaus County Registrar of Voters.
Brett C. Short has also been furnished nomination papers, and said nomination papers have been returned and verified by the Elections Division of Stanislaus County Registrar of Voters.
Candidate qualifications for office: must be 18 years old or older, have no felony convictions, reside and be registered to vote within the City of Newman before pulling nomination papers. All three of the offices listed above are elected At-Large” (Candidates may reside anywhere within the City’s boundaries).
The last day to secure and file nomination papers is Friday, August 7, 2026. Nomination papers will be available and shall be filed at City Hall, 938 Fresno Street, Newman, California Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidates are strongly encouraged to call 209-862-3725, Option 5 to make an appointment for candidate filing.
If no one, or only one person, is nominated for any elected office, appointment to such elective office may be made as prescribed by California Elections Code Section 10229 (2026 edition).
